| The Fresno Bee covers "the Project" -
Receiving attention from established media is a real "shot in the arm" both in
bringing in needed donations but also our morale - it's nice to be noticed.
The Fresno Bee's Aug. 1st article A soldier's alternative - Madera family leads effort to ship gun-cleaning tool to service members
(by Denny Boyles)
highlights our Director Jim Kochheiser and his family.
This all-American family does the fundraising,
purchasing, packing and processing for all day-to-day
operations of Project Bore Snake.

NRA comes through again -
Many thanks again to the National Rifle Association who donated $5000 to "the Project" in June,
Over 750 more US servicemen and women "over there" will receive bore snakes because of this help.
With this donation, combined with last year's donated coverage in many of the organization's national magazines,
NRA continues a fine tradition of supporting America's fighting forces in important ways.

Shooting Illustrated illustrates the need -
NRA's Shooting Illustrated magazine
recently highlighted "The Project" to those who really understand the benefits of bore snakes!
This is another example of how NRA members and staff have "gone the extra mile" to support
our troops every way possible. We certainly appreciate the help!
"The Project" was highlighted in the magazine's "Shots Fired" section.

NRA Instructors say we're on target -
NRA's Education and Training Division
teaches it's readers about "The Project"!
Special thanks to NRA Board Member Tom Gaines for
putting in a good word for us.
Project Bore Snake Director Jim Kochheizer is quoted in the article,
"Others might think to send sunflower seeds and chewing gum, but we are giving our
troops something that is consistent with their needs on the frontline."

Now serving over 30% more soldiers/marines -
Previously,
we included commercial solvent and oil with the kits, but the MIL-SPEC lubricants and cleaners
that the troops have been issued
are excellent and quite compatible with "Bore Snakes". Accordingly, we've decided to
save the cost of those items by no longer including them. As a result, we are able to provide
"Bore Snakes" to over 30% more soldiers and marines!

Soldier of Fortune magazine gives a salute! -
In September, the Project received a thumbs up from no less than Soldier of Fortune magazine!
We'd like to thank Sheriff Jay Printz for
telling his friend Col. Robert K. Brown
about us!
Recently returned from a dangerous year in Iraq, Sheriff Printz served as
an advisor to Iraqi national security forces in preparation for the difficult
job they face.[Pictures from Iraq]

Now offering "Snake Kits for Snipers" (and other special duty units) -
Members of America's fine sniper corps have asked us point-blank - "How can we get 'Snake Kits' for our larger,
more powerful guns?" Project Bore Snake to the rescue! Our
Identify a Serviceman page now offers the choice of the standard
5.56mm/9mm "Snake Kit"
(servicing M16/M4 weapons and the M9 sidearm) or the new "special duty" 7.62mm/12.7mm "Snake Kit"
(for the .30 cal. M14/M21/M24/M25/M40/M60-series weapons and the .50 cal M2 machine gun and M82A1 rifle).
Your donation is more important that ever! Please donate today.

Now (finally) processing donations ONLINE -
We're pleased to provide a convenient, safe and secure option for those that
want to support the troops via Project Bore Snake. Of course, we still provide
a U.S. Mail address for those who would rather mail in a check or money order.
Either way, your donation is direly needed and always appreciated. Please donate today.

NOW SERVING ENTIRE UNITS IN THE FIELD BY REQUEST!
- Today we received the following request from 1st Lt. Mitch W.:
Dear Project Bore Snake:
My team is about to deploy to Iraq within the next few weeks. Is there any
way that we could kindly request 40 kits to be sent to our mobilization
site - and then we could take them with us during our deployment? I could
provide individual names for each soldier.
Project Bore Snake responds (specific addressing and delivery info deleted to
protect the servicemen's privacy)...
Dear 1st. Lt. W.,
This project is to serve you and your colleagues. We will be honored to
respond to your request.
Please pick 10 of your people (you are one of the 10) and go on the site and
use the button "Identify a Serviceman" and give us the information. Each
man will get a package of four "Snake Kits" - one to keep and three for
others.
Please stay in touch and we REALLY want to know how you and your guys are
doing and how this project helps you.
Thank you for your service to our country.
Sincerely,
Jim Kochheiser, Director

Now shipping both 5.56mm and 9mm Bore Snakes in each kit.
Via direct feedback from our Iraq-based fighting men, we have learned:
- They LOVE the M-16 Bore Snakes! (well, we knew they would)
- They ask "How about our sidearms?"
After a quick slap to the forehead, we began aquisition of same. In all shipments
starting today, we are
including a 9mm Bore Snake as well as a 5.56mm Bore Snake. Naturally, the cost of
each kit has risen substantially, but as our men fight for freedom,
we are happy to "improvise, adapt and overcome" to support them.
