Project Bore Snake Has Ceased Operations In September 2008, after raising over $210,000 and shipping nearly 32,000 bore snakes, "the Project" was informed that the U.S. military procurement system is now satisfying requests for bore snakes. Accordingly, we are no longer processing orders for Bore Snakes. US troops may order bore snakes using these National Stock Numbers (NSN):
We sincerely appreciate the ongoing encouragement and support we have received. We must express our special appreciation for the personal support received from Rotary. Special thanks to some people that took time out of their lives to help us help our troops. New friends, Daniel Bonyhadi, Dave Holden, Bruce Kleckner and many Club Presidents adopted the effort to help. On several occasions, the National Rifle Association (NRA) contributed financially and with advertising in their magazines. After four years supporting our brave and loyal combat troops, we have found the connections for these worthy men and women to get "snakes" for them from the Dept of Defense through the GSA system. We have done our job and we now need to take a rest from this concentrated effort. We will return any monies received going forward and any residual funds currently in hand will be "washed out" by sending bore snakes to organizations that have ordered from us in the past. No cash refunds will be made. Checks will be returned and Charge card donations are now blocked. We praise the Lord for allowing us to perform this work and we pray each night for the safety of our men and women in the service of our country around the world. The site will continue for some time to allow emails to ensure any inquiry will be received and responded to. Thank you and God Bless America.
Recon / Snipers Platoon 'Hatchet' Says "Thanks" Some of America's Brave Warriors take a moment to thank us. (Of course, it is THEY that deserve our gratitude and so much more!)
(NOTE: We have verified that
this photograph is appropriate to publish and
does NOT identify their area of operations.)
Jim - a forwarded email from Afghanistan:
We're still amazed by those from the Bore Snake site - WOW!
If you would, please pass this on to them, it's our very
small way of saying thanks to them and the support they're giving.
We'll really never have a way to let them know just
how much their support is appreciated, but please let them know we'll
put the snakes to good use and carry on the fight.
Things are heating up here, so keeping our stuff ready is primary
and those snakes will definitely help! Again, please tell them Thanks
from all of us!
Nick
Editor: Nick holds the Army record for the longest confirmed sniper shot
in Afghanistan - 1.3 miles, 2100-meters - done with a Project Bore Snake-supported rifle!
Regarding the photograph, I should mention that Trigger, the guard dog
pictured in the photo and who accompanied the Platoon on their missions,
fell some months ago while doing what he was trained to do.
Just thought you'd like to know. (Editor: The
operational details of Trigger's death cannot be published.
We wish we could tell the story. Suffice it to say that Trigger was an American Hero in the highest sense.)
Bruce
p.s. If you'd like to sit down one evening and read,
you may find the following interesting ... in some ways, it opens
a window into the 1-91st Recon Platoon's deployment - and the ups
and downs of their time, to date, in Afghanistan - they still
have until August before they come home. It starts off slow
but I can guarantee that as you read, you'll find yourself laughing,
at times you may very well find yourself experiencing an "allergy attack"
- but more importantly, you'll come away with an immense sense of
pride in both the Platoon and these common Americans who have chosen,
like you and yours, to get involved in supporting our troops ...
without question. And for that, I once again Thank You ... *s*
