   Over 30,000 Bore Snakes shipped!

Project Bore Snake Has Ceased Operations

In September 2008, after raising over $210,000 and shipping nearly 32,000 bore snakes, "the Project" was informed that the U.S. military procurement system is now satisfying requests for bore snakes. Accordingly, we are no longer processing orders for Bore Snakes. US troops may order bore snakes using these National Stock Numbers (NSN):

.223 Cal.
1005015238701
9mm
1005014770932
.30 Cal.
1005014782261
.50 Cal.

More Information

We sincerely appreciate the ongoing encouragement and support we have received. We must express our special appreciation for the personal support received from Rotary. Special thanks to some people that took time out of their lives to help us help our troops. New friends, Daniel Bonyhadi, Dave Holden, Bruce Kleckner and many Club Presidents adopted the effort to help. On several occasions, the National Rifle Association (NRA) contributed financially and with advertising in their magazines. After four years supporting our brave and loyal combat troops, we have found the connections for these worthy men and women to get "snakes" for them from the Dept of Defense through the GSA system. We have done our job and we now need to take a rest from this concentrated effort.

We will return any monies received going forward and any residual funds currently in hand will be "washed out" by sending bore snakes to organizations that have ordered from us in the past. No cash refunds will be made. Checks will be returned and Charge card donations are now blocked.

We praise the Lord for allowing us to perform this work and we pray each night for the safety of our men and women in the service of our country around the world.

The site will continue for some time to allow emails to ensure any inquiry will be received and responded to.

Thank you and God Bless America.

Subject:  Thank you!

I wanted to thank you implicitly for this project. I can't express my platoon's appreciation enough for this service. The bore snake has got to be one of the most useful tools ever for weapons cleaning, and on top of that it frees up more of our time otherwise spent cleaning to plan our missions more thoroughly. I plan on donating to your cause myself, just because every soldier here should have access to these tools. Thanks so much for your generosity and dedication to us. It is appreciated more than we can say.

Subject:  Thank You Again!

I can't thank you enough for what your project does for our sons and daughters in Afghanistan & Iraq. My son is currently in Iraq again. I turned out that he still had 3 of the 8 snakes I sent him when he was there in 2006. I asked him if he need more and he stated that they need them for all of their weapons so I sent him 8 then went to my local American Legion Riders @ Post 500 in Speedway, IN and pleaded my case. As they were getting ready to vote on the funds for 5 sets a member asked if she could donate the money "In Memory Of Masheila Bible". My son, Sgt. Steven M. in Iraq received them 3 days ago and he was Santa in July! He stated that several member of "Physco" Platoon said they were going to write and thank both Project BoreSnake and The Legion Riders for your generosity. Please keep up the good work!

I am a contractor at [location withheld] south of Baghdad in Iraq. I would like to make a donation and recieve the 8 pak of .50 Bore Snakes. I want to give them to my gunners and keep one for myself. I would like to donate $100. While I am at it, I would donate an additional $100 for an 8 pak of .30 Bore Snakes for my 240 gunners. I can put together a list of name, rank and weapon for each of my gunners. Please let me know if you will do this for me and I can provide payment and shipping information. I appreciate that you are trying to help out over here.

Subject:  Request for Boresnakes

My name is SGT Matt R., currently serving with [unit withheld] Camp Liberty, Baghdad. Some time ago I purchased a boresnake from Ranger Joe's. At this point, no one else in my squad has any of these tools, so I'm obligated to loan mine out quite often. Needless to say, my boresnake is becoming frayed and falling apart from daily use. I came across this website recently and felt compelled to contact you. These tools are a Godsend, and a box of these for my squad would be much appreciated. There are fifteen soldiers and NCOs in my squad, and all carry M16/M4 or M249. We also have M240B for each of our gun trucks and MRAPs. If supplied with a full compelement of snakes for everyone, the breakdown would be as follows:
    14x 5.56
    2x 9mm
    4x 7.62
I would greatly appreciate it if anyone is able to supply us with these tools. We've been here seven months so far, and have eight to go. From what I understand, we are among the last units doing 15-month tours in Iraq. If we are able to be supplied, I will personally make sure that everyone who receives a snake writes a note to thank the supplier. Thanks for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Hello, I am part of a National Guard unit from Iowa that is about to go through pre mob (leave june 5) and deploying some time in Aug to go to Iraq. My Step Father found this site while he was deployed and as let me loan his snake and everyone in my unit loves it. I was wondering if there was some way to get a mass order of snakes. We only need the snakes for the M-16. Any information is appreciated. Thanks.

Thank you for the Bore Snakes you sent me and friends. With all we have to do here on any given day it is damn near impossible to find the time to clean weapons, a vital daily chore. Your donation has saved us a great deal of time and made our lives safer. Thanks again.

I wanted to thank you for this project. My son (a LT in Iraq) recently received a package from you that my parents had donated for. He is sharing with his platoon. I have just completed a donation and again identified him as the serviceman as he does have a platoon so addltional bore snakes will help tremendously. Please use the overage on my donation to help towards sending another package to someone. I will share your project with others. Thank you again!

Hello Project Bore Snake. I was at Camp [withheld] (Kabul) the other day and I ran into CDR K. She offered me some of your weapon cleaning material (i.e., .30 Cal Rifle Cleaner, .380/9mm Pist, etc). Without a doubt, this material is very valuable to our soldiers. This is why I'm writing you.

I'm at Camp [withheld], Afghanistan that services approx. 250 soldiers down range. Unfortunately, these soldiers don’t have connectivity (phone/computer) to request items except for standard army components through their Blue Force Tracker. That said, I have a special request. Is it at all possible to have Project Bore Snake donate approx. 250 each of your standard weapon cleaner kits? I will personally ensure that every soldier, airman and sailor downrange are issued one of the kits.

If your generosity is possible, can you please have them shipped to my attention. Please also include your "Thanks for your loyal service to our country" letter for each kit. I want to make sure they know about Project Bore Snake.

I was informed of your website from our sister squadron currently deployed along with us and the rest of the Abraham Lincoln Battlegroup. A boresnake kit would help us significantly. We are constantly flying in adverse conditions, primarily dust storms and high humidity. Due to Navy logistics/funding, we are left to maintain our guns with only minimal cleaning gear. If you were able to put us on the list it would be GREATLY appreciated. We use both .50 Cal & 7.62mm machine guns. Thank you very much!

I am the S-4 officer for an embedded training team here in Afghanistan. We just got to our new home in the south and it is dust city. I and my 16 other team members are having a hard time keeping our weapons clean and cannot seem to be able to order the boresnakes thru our system. If it is at all possible can we get some boresnakes in 9mm, 7.62 and 50 cal? Thank you and we understand if others are in greater need.

My son is the scout sniper platoon leader currently deployed in Kandahar. He has asked me to purchase Hoppes Rifle cleaning products for the platoon's 5.56, 7.62 and 9mm weapons. Specifically he asked for bore snakes, powder, solvent, Hoppes 9 and Benchrest 9. I am not familiar with the best way to obtain and ship these products.

A friend of mine was telling me that you supply cleaning kits to deployed services members. I'm a mechanic in an Airborne unit and we spend a lot of time on the road. The guys in my team would appreciate any help we can get for cleaning our weapons faster. I'm not sure how to go about taking care of this, but would appreciate any help possible.

I just got off the phone with you to place the order to go to my nephew in [location withheld]... It's a magnificant service you are performing, and as Josh's uncle and as a old Marine, I really appreciate what you are doing.

This was initiated by my oldest buddy from the Corps, Joe W. It shows how much the term band of brothers really means amongst Marines.

My 19 yr. old Marine son is newly-activated and due to deploy to the "Sunni Triangle" in April of 08. He will have 2 months of training from now until deployment in [location withheld]. When he has boots in the sand I'll send a donation for him and some of his buddies. God bless you. And God bless America.

I am the armorer for [unit and location withheld] and I was wondering if I could possibly get quite a few sets for my company... Every time we put these on order the order gets kicked back. I would really love to receive a set of these and I could possibly get a hefty donation from all of the guys here. I would need : 14 .50 cal, 30 7.62, 15 12 gauge, 75 5.56 and 75 9mil.

Please let me know and I will start getting a collection from all of my guys. I just don't think that we will be able to collect enough to actually pay for all these out of our own pockets. Thank you and every soldier you have helped I am sure greatly appreciates all that you do.

My son, SPC Salvatore G., stationed @ [unit and location withheld], Afghanistan, just received his #2 bore snake kit. He called me as soon as he could and raved about your product. He couldn't wait to try it out. He said it is better than anything the Army ever gave him to clean his guns and it saves him a lot of time.

I didn't send you a donation because I am a realtor and I haven't sold a house or had any income in months, but I am very grateful to you for being so generous. Thank you.

Subject:  The Bore Snake

I'm currently deployed in Iraq and my PLT SGT (who is also our Armorer) told us about your website and your product. The sand and dirt accumulates on our weapons so quickly and it's extremely important for a soldier to keep their weapon clean. My unit is a NG unit out of Illinois and we are short of some of the things regular Army units would have, cleaning kits included. One of our trucks is set up for soldiers to come in and clean but we have several soldiers at other FOBs and another platoon that is constantly on mission and it would be easier for us to have something we can just throw into our pocket.

If you would be able to donate to our Company of 186 soldiers it would be greatly appreciated. Most of the soldiers have M4's but there are some M16s and 249s. If you cannot ship that many, that's understandable and I will be happy with whatever you can provide.

Thanks in advance and just know that everyone here in uniform appreciates all the support you and the other folks back home are giving during this time.

I am currently serving as the Executive Officer for a National Guard Infantry Company getting ready to deploy to Iraq. We are at Ft. Stewart, Georgia right now completing our train-up. I ran accross your website while researching boresnakes for my unit and was hoping you could help us out. Since we are not in theater yet, funding is tight, yet we wanted soldiers to have these as soon as possible. We currently have 131 M4 carbines, 6 M9 pistols, 21 M249 SAWs, 14 M240B machine guns, 10 .50 caliber machine guns and 10 Mk19 automatic grenade launchers. Any support you could provide would be most welcome. I think what you are doing for the soldiers is quite fantastic. People like you remind people like me why we do what we do. Thanks again.
