Here's what family, friends and servicemen say about Project Bore Snake...

Subject:  Thank you from my son

I got a brief email from my son 2LT M.C. currently in Iraq stating: "I got package with weapon cleaning items, its VERY much appreciated and I will disperse them among the soldiers."

I can't thank you enough for sending this package to my son. I was given the link and signed him up with you folks never really expecting for him to receive a package and most certainly not this quickly! They arrived in the theater about a month ago and these kits will definitly be put to good use.

Thank you for supporting our deployed soldiers. So many seem to have forgotten our men and women in Iraq and Afganistan. I would like to wish you and your staff a very Happy and Healthy New Year!

I am currently serving in Iraq with the (unit withheld). I wanted to thank you for the package you sent me. We definitely put the snakes to good use. We appreciate what you do and it helps to know people are thinking of ways to help from back home.

I purchased a .223 Boresnake for each of my squad leaders in Feb 2003 before deploying to Iraq and they worked out great. When I went back in 2005, your organization shipped my Boresnakes and again they worked out fine as anything that makes a soldiers task easier makes it more likely they'll acomplish it. My unit is deploying again next summer and we'll be using Boresnakes. Thanks.

I was referred to this website by a fellow soldier. My unit is deployed right now in Baghdad. I am the armorer for my company. I could really use those bore snakes for my soldiers. I don't know how many would be too many to ask for, but I could use around 100 if it's possible. Any assistance at all you could send to us would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Hi! I am the wife of a Marine who is currently serving his 4th tour in Iraq. Our very supportive hometown asked the Marines what they would like for Christmas this year and most of them said Hoppe's Boresnake Cleaning Kits. I called Bushnell directly and they referred me to your program. What an awesome idea you have! Thank you for coming up with a service project that is so very necessary and meaningful to the troops. You will notice my name listed several times as a donor as I am sending each of my husband's team leaders a kit to share with their Marines; hopefully, just in time for the holidays! Thanks again for all that you are doing to help my husband, his Marines, and all other service men and women be successful in their mission.

Debbie Garrison at Bushnell Outdoor Products passed your name and website on to me when I inquired to her about shipping Bore Snakes to my buddy's unit in Iraq. My company is sponsoring his unit and in addition to sending care packages, he's specifically requested Bore Snakes for his soldiers. I wanted to contact you to see if there was a way to send (through your organization) enough bore snakes to cover his entire unit's weapons (crew and individual). I'd be glad to cover the costs of the bore snakes and shipping.

I wrote to you one time before requesting bore snakes for soldiers in my platoon and you kindly sent me 8. Since then I have received several new soldiers and needed to see if I can get some more. I only need bore snakes for M4's this time as we of course still have the ones for our crew serve weapons. I appreciate what you guys are doing for us, and have told several people about your organization. Again, Thank you for you help and support, and God Bless.

I am a Detective with the City of Independence, Ohio Police Dept. We have the Independence Police Officers Association, to which we take money from our checks to donate to worthy causes. I ran across your organization while researching Bore Snakes for our Dept. As a hunter and armorer, I was amazed at how well they worked, and immediatly realized how valuable these would be for our troops in the field. I wanted to confirm that the $56.00 kit fee included shipping, as this had been a factor with other donations we had made to our troops.

When I signed up my boss and friend, who is currently serving in Iraq, to receive your gun cleaning kit you mentioned that you wanted us to let you know when the serviceman received these kits. Well he did receive the package and he said that they went like "hotcakes". Thank you for all that your group does for our service men and women that are fighting to keep us free! Keep up the good work!!

Subject:  Request bore snakes

I am the supply sergeant for a MP Co. currently serving in Iraq. If you have been here you know how hard it is to keep your weapon clean and operational. I used to think that all you needed to clean your weapons was what was provided to you. After trying the boresnake 4 years ago for my M-16 I haven't used anything else since. I was really impressed. I have tried to get these "through the system" for the rest of my soldiers but always have problems and never receive them.

I stumbled across your site looking for alternate ways to get these outside the system. My unit is not one whose mission allows them to stay on the FOB all the time. Our mission takes us outside the wire daily and the operability of our weapons can be the difference between life and death. I would like to know if you can send boresnakes in the following calibers: .223/5.56mm , .308/7.62, .50cal and 9mm. We could really use about 70 each of the 5.56mm and 9mm and 20ea of 7.62mm, .50cal but anything you can spare would be greatly appreciated. I know that you are supporting a lot of units here and think that you have a great service going. It allows Americans to support the troops with things that they NEED, not just want. I want to thank you for your support and look forward to supporting your cause upon redeployment to the States. Thank you.

I want to send my gratitude for the boresnakes. I have only been in Iraq for a couple months which is by far long enought to realize that one of our biggest problems is keeping weapons clean. Utilizing the boresnake has taken away the burden part of cleaning the weapon. Older style cleaning kits that we are issued are time consuming and hard to keep track of. The boresnakes are a super efficient way to ensure the rifles are ready in an instant. Thank you for your support and the patriotism obviously exhibited by this huge task you have undergone motivated by the ole RED, WHITE, and BLUE. HOOOOOOAAAH!!

My name is Nancy Carter and I am the founder of Airborne Angel Cadets of Texas (www.airborneangelcadets.com), a non-profit group that sends care packages to our troop. I recently received a request from a soldier asking for some bore snakes for 4 of his soldiers. They find these snakes "invaluable" and I have submitted his name for your project. We are a small group of volunteers working strictly thru donations and I think what you are doing is wonderful.

Subject:  Fast delivery to my son in Iraq!

Thank you and God bless you all for the service you're providing to our service men and women. My son already received his boresnake. He wasn't able to tell me much, other than that he received it and "thanks a bunch" but I want to tell you that I am so very grateful for the fast turnaround.

There's not much a parent can do for their deployed soldier, except pray and send care packages. When my son asked me to send him something called "bore snake" I jumped at the chance to deliver something that might really help him. An internet search returned many commercial vendors of the product, but thankfully I found your project's web site before I ordered anything.

When your young child is on the soccer field or football field, you don't want to miss a single moment. Since he's deployed to Iraq, I find the most difficult thing is not knowing what he's going through each day and not being able to help him. But your service not only directly helps to keep him safer, but it has helped me to feel like I can do something to help him and other soldiers who sacrifice so much so that we may sleep in peace.

I can't really find the words to express how stongly I appreciate your service, so I'll just say again, thank you, and God bless you.

I'll be sure to spread the word about your project as much as possible.

I have been trying to get a bore snake for myself and my unit members since we had been training in Ft. Hood, TX, but I never had any luck at finding any. Now I am in Iraq and I found this website online and decided to try it out. I got my bore snakes right away and I am very pleased! We run patrols every day out here in Iraq and our weapons get very dirty with sand. At the end of the day we have to do a quick clean up and this tool really speeds up the process so we can get back to the barracks for a hot shower! Thank you so much; I am donating some money so the rest of my convoy platoon can order some. I already received 8 snakes, enough for my whole patrol. Thank you again!

I have visited your website on recommendation from a friend. We are (unit withheld) in southern Baghdad, Iraq. If it were possible I would like to request 5: 240- B gauge Boresnakes, 2: .50 Cal Boresnakes, and 3: (as I write this we are being mortared,!!!) 5.56 Boresnakes.

These would help tremendously to maintain our Crewserve weapons between missions. Your Boresnake product is widely used in our sector and known to be the absolute best in maintaining weapon barrels.

I learned early in the Korean War that a pull-through was a great bore "cleaner-outer". I used a leather boot lace and a cleaning patch tied to the end with a piece of string for mine. Along with a shaving brush which I still use on my firearms, made my cleaning kit. Putting together all those parts just took too much time. I used a "Boresnake" on all my pistols now), (Eye issues keep me from shooting rifles any more), and the Bore Snake gets them clean. You have a great program. I'm going to get involved.

On behalf of my husband SGT. L.J. and his fellow Soldiers of the (unit withheld) out of Fort Hood Texas I would like to say a big Texas sized "Thank You". I signed the shop up to recieve multi-sized packages of Bore Snake kits from you and literally within days they arrived at thier location downrange. And it was such perfect timing too because they had just completed a range days before and had cleaned their weapons with the Army issued cleaning kit, needless to say after running thru their new Bore Snakes those weapons were showroom ready! They LOVE them and sincerely appreciate this most practical offering. Candy they say is nice but this helps them feel a little more prepared for the day. Again Thank You not just from the Soldiers but from us the Famliy members too for offering a little more 'peace' of mind. God Bless Until They All Come Home.

I am the HQ Platoon Sergeant for the (unit withheld) currently serving in Iraq. Obviously this environment is a killer on our weapons and it is constant effort to keep the dust and dirt from building up. I have a Bore Snake of my own given to me by my predecessor and it works great! I really want every Soldier in theater to have one, but I'll start with my platoon. I hope The Project has received enough donations the sponsor my platoon... whatever you can afford to send would be a God send. Thank you for your support and God bless your efforts.

I'm Cpl B., currently serving as a British Royal Marine Commando. I've been in 6 years and have operational tours in Ireland and Afghanistan. I Also shoot for the Corp team both rifle (SA80 A-2 5.56mm) and pistol (Browning 9mm) I've recently come back from Bisley (UK) where the Corp team shoots against the Navy and then onto inter service competitions and finally international. In our Corp team we have just 2 bore snakes for 20 firer’s.

I'd never seen a bore snake until a few years back. WOW! What a great piece of equipment, so simple and easy to use, they should be issued out on day one week one of basic training. Over here they are quite expensive around £25 for a 5.56mm that’s why most people don't own one and the majority of British servicemen and woman haven't probably heard of one either.

I think your website and the service you provide is absolutely FANTASTIC!!! My goal is to have every Royal Marine Commando own a bore snake. I think this could be possible with us working together. I'd like to start of small with just the Royal Marine Shooting Team, around 25 people.

I have heard about this project from my sister unit here in Iraq. I have used boresnakes for numerous years and can't think of a more needy place for them than here in Iraq. The dust and sand that is forever blowing gets in any and every nook and cranny of a weapon. I require as many as you are willing to donate... anything would help maintain our weapons. As i'm sure you know, an Infantrymans lifeline is his weapon and it's cleanliness will keep that lifeline reliable.

I came across your sight & found that I could donate $56.00 & get enough for my SQUAD!!! Thank-you. I nominated myself & donated the money & still it cost less than some of the internet sites when you add in shipping & handling. Maybe you could make a way for those deployed to order for themselves. I'm the Supply Sergeant for my unit from Alaska and we are currently stationed in (location withheld) for Operation Iraqi Freedom performing security duties as (unit withheld). I personally own a boresnake for all of my rifles and pistols back home and really like what they do. They're so much more efficient and cost less than the standard military cleaning kits. To this day I don't know why the military hasn't contracted with companies who provide these highly efficient, cost saving, life saving items. I received a flyer here from your company and was wondering if you are able to supply 1 boresnake for each of our weapons that are issued out to my soldiers... Any boresnakes that your company provides would be greatly appreciated by these Alaskans who take their "hunting equipment" seriously. I've read some of the testimonials on your website and agree wholeheartedly. Thank you for all you're doing to support the Armed Services!!!

I am an armorer for a convoy security company that is responsible for guarding convoys from the Kuwaiti border all the way to the Turkey border and every where in between. I am responsible for maintaining a variety of weapons from the M-9 9mm all the way up to the MK-19 40MM Grenade Launcher. This is a tremendous task making sure all of the gun crews maintain and service all of thier weapons. One of the hardest and most important part of maintaining the weapons is ensuring the barrels are clean. I have used BoreSnakes many times in the civilian world and absolutely loved them. I recently recieved a package of BoreSnakes from your orginization and was thrilled. I immeadiately set up a cleaning station for all of the gun crews to use, and they were amazed. The BoreSnakes cut our barrel cleaning time in half. The gun crews now have more time to make sure that the rest of their equipment is ready to go on mission. This is saving lives by ensuring that the gun crews have the most time to prepare for thier mission. I would like to thank you, and also ask on how to request more. I am responsible for approximately 100 crew served weapons and 200 personal weapons.
